対 is a JLPT N3 kanji meaning vis-a-vis, opposite, even, written with 7 strokes. It is read タイ, ツイ (on) and あいて, こたえる, そろい (kun). Children in Japan learn it in grade 3. You will see it in 反対 (はんたい, opposition) and 絶対 (ぜったい, absolutely).
