並 is a JLPT N2 kanji meaning row, and, besides, written with 8 strokes. It is read ヘイ, ホウ (on) and なみ, ならべる (kun). Children in Japan learn it in grade 6. You will see it in 並木 (なみき, roadside trees) and 並行 (へいこう, going side-by-side).
On'yomi: from Chinese, written in katakana. Used in compound words.
Kun'yomi: native Japanese, in hiragana. The faint part is the okurigana, written in kana after the kanji.
