変 is a JLPT N3 kanji meaning unusual, change, strange, written with 9 strokes. It is read ヘン (on) and かわる, かわり, かえる (kun). Children in Japan learn it in grade 4. You will see it in 変化 (へんか, change) and 大変 (たいへん, very).
