将 is a JLPT N2 kanji meaning leader, commander, general, written with 10 strokes. It is read ショウ, ソウ (on) and まさに, はた, まさ (kun). Children in Japan learn it in grade 6. You will see it in 将来 (しょうらい, future) and 将棋 (しょうぎ, shogi).
On'yomi: from Chinese, written in katakana. Used in compound words.
