解 is a JLPT N3 kanji meaning unravel, notes, key, written with 13 strokes. It is read カイ, ゲ (on) and とく, とかす, とける (kun). Children in Japan learn it in grade 5. You will see it in 解決 (かいけつ, settlement) and 見解 (けんかい, opinion).
On'yomi: from Chinese, written in katakana. Used in compound words.
Kun'yomi: native Japanese, in hiragana. The faint part is the okurigana, written in kana after the kanji.
